Please watch Chris Rock's film, "Good Hair" I was curious to see that the hair weaves is the 2nd number 1 export from India and that black hair products is a 9 billion dollar industry. In Wikipedia, it explains that tonsure is an ancient custom with roots in Christianity; however, in poor crowded country of India, this is big business. The irony is hundreds of people go to this place to have their head shaved for religion purpose and have no idea that their hair is then auctioned off and sold making it's way to the western world where women with naturally curly hair are economically exploited to spend $1000 and more to have this hair woven into their head so they can look like the women they see in magazines and movies.
